Cleansing and moisturising skin that is extremely sensitive or that suffers from severe acne and rosacea can be very challenging. When it comes to this type of conditions, our recommendation is to keep what you put on your skin really simple and 100% natural. This gives then your skin the chance to heal and find its balance again.
The following cleansing and moisturising routine is straightforward and should hopefully help:
To cleanse, splash warm water on face and neck and then pat dry with a clean towel. Use a small amount of organic jojoba oil (make sure it is cold-pressed, to avoid putting toxic transfatty acids on your skin!). We suggest jojoba because this oil is the most similar one to the skin’s natural sebum. Massage it into face and neck. Damp some muslin cloth or cotton wool with warm water and use it to gently remove all the oil in large upwards strokes.
To moisturise, add a little more oil to the face and neck and then spray with organic lavender floral water. We recommend lavender because it is very cooling to the skin and as a floral water, it is the homeopathic version of lavender essential oil.
Using these two products is enough. You don’t need to apply a moisturiser, toner, etc. Do not use soap at all to wash your face.
You may also want to take MSM powder on a daily basis. MSM helps to remove toxins from the body, increases the absorption of nutrients and is great for repairing damaged skin.
Applying rhassoul clay or green clay once a week will also help cleanse the skin from deep within.
A key aspect to restoring the balance of the skin is your diet. Make sure you drink at least two litres of water a day. Cut down (or eliminate altogether if you can) meat, diary, caffeine, sugar, alcohol and fried foods.
