Camu camu has an extraordinarily high vitamin C content, providing 30 times more than oranges. In addition, it has astringent, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, emollient and nutritional properties. It also contains high levels of beta carotene, calcium, iron, niacin, phosphorus, riboflavin and thiamin.
Our camu camu is a pink, sherbet-like powder, which has been sustainable harvested from the Amazon rain forest. These trees grow in black water rivers, especially in abandoned courses called "cochas" within the jungle.
Camu camu has amazing anti-depressant effects. In fact, Dr Gary Null, a US nutritionist and researcher, has been successfully used it to wean patients off of their anti-depression prescription medication (such as Zoloft and Prozac), with no relapse into depression. Camu camu is also an ideal support for colds and flu as well as skin and hair care.
Ingredients: Camu Camu, pesticide and chemical free and grown to ecological standards.
Directions: Camu camu can be blended into desserts, drinks and smoothies as well as savoury recipes such as sauces and raw soups. Used in small quantities, its sour taste enhances dishes much in the same way as lemon juice does. It is also possible to take half to one teaspoon of camu camu, mixed in a glass of water.
