Tea tree is a very useful essential oil as it helps the immune system to fight off any infections. It has excellent antiseptic, antiviral and fungicidal properties.
On the skin, tea tree helps to clear acne, burns, herpes, cold sores, blemishes, diaper rash, warts, athlete's foot and sunburn.
It also helps to relieve bronchial congestion, asthma, coughs, sinusitis, whooping cough and tuberculosis. Tea tree is also refreshing and revitalising, particularly after shock.
Tea tree is native to the northeast coast of New South Wales, Australia and is distilled locally from leaves and small branches.
Tea tree can be applied neat on the skin in small amounts. Please remember that this is a very powerful oil and that direct application on the skin must be done with great care, avoiding any sensitive areas.
You can apply one or two drops directly to spots, cuts, insect bites, stings, blisters and viral problems such as warts, verrucae, cold sores, shingles and Chickenpox lesions.
To relieve Athletes Foot or fungal infections of the nails add 3 - 5 drops of oil to a warm foot bath and soak the feet daily. Dry thoroughly with a clean towel, especially between the toes.
The use of Tea Tree in a steam inhalation can be a very effective method of obtaining relief from respiratory infections, catarrh, colds or flu.
You can use this essential oil in different ways:
In the bath: For a wonderfully relaxing experience at the end of a busy day, just add 6 - 8 drops of essential oil to a warm bath. Mix the water well before getting in.
In an oil burner: A good way of using essential oils is to vaporise them, for example by using an oil burner. To use an oil burner, fill the bowl at the top of the burner with water and place 6-10 drops of essential oil in the water. Then place a lighted tea light underneath the bowl. The water and essential oils evaporate as steam, letting the aroma of the essential oils fill the room.
For massage: Massage is also a very good method of application because the skin, as our largest organ readily absorbs the essential oil into the bloodstream. You can use one or up to four essential oils according to your particular needs and add them to a cold-pressed oil, in a dilution of 5 drops of essential oil to 10ml of carrier oil. If you have particularly sensitive skin, use only 3 drops.
Ingredients: undiluted, 100% organic essential oils of tea tree
Precautions: Tea tree may cause irritation on sensitive areas of the skin. During pregnancy, it is extremely important to be cautious about what you eat and put on your body. It is best to err on the side of caution and we therefore recommend avoiding all products containing essential oils during the first three months.
